In just a few hours the gaming community will travel from all over the world to GenCon 2018. It’s no wonder when you think of all the amazing games to see and play. GenCon is the biggest event of the year for our industry and more new games are shown at it then any other convention.
Here is a list of some of the games we at MeepleGamers are most excited to see.
The first five games are this year’s titles we are most excited about. After that they are in no particular order. Just lots of general enthusiasm.

2. Choose Your Own Adventure: Danger House by ZMan Games
If you read a book in the 80’s or early 90’s it was probably a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Now you can relive your childhood memories with this Co-op adventure.
3. Forbidden Sky by Gamewright Games
I think the only thing I need to say about this is, Matt Leacock.
4. Symphony No. 9 by Moaideas Games
Have you ever wondered what it is like to be an ultra rich noble who, through their charitable donations, builds the greatest symphony in the country? Me, neither. But Symphony No. 9 looks absolutely amazing and now I want to know how it feels to be an ultra wealthy noble.
5. Fireball Island
With all the hype surrounding Fireball Island how can you not be excited for this game. Set out on an amazing expedition and run for your life from flaming balls. Sure sounds like a great time to me.
SwordCrafters by Adam’s Apple Games
Players are tasked with completing the best sword based on length, quality, and magic. Players construct 3D swords that can be held. “Careful kid, you’ll poke your eye out.”
Dual Powers: Revolution 1917 by Thunderworks Games
The struggle for Russia steps to the forefront in Dual Powers. This is a 1-2 player game where players choose a side and wild their political and military might to gain the most support in the social revolution of 1917. The only thing at stake in Dual Powers is the control of Russia. That’s all.
My Little Scythe by Stonemaier Games
Playing Scythe with my kids! Sign me up! What a great way to start them when they are young and that way you have your own Scythe gaming group when they are older.
Speakeasy Blues by Artana Games
All we know about this game right now is that it is a dice game. But as the name suggests you really need to see what is on the inside to enjoy this game.
Clank! In! Space! Apocalypse by Renegade Game Studios
Is there a such thing as too much Clank!? No way! Clank! has been amazing in all its form and I expect nothing less from Apocalypse.
The Reckoners by Nauvoo Games
The Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson is a must read. Seriously, go read it right now. If the game can capture the essence that made those books amazing, it will be a must-have for your collection.
Archmage by Starling Games
Another big title from Starling games makes our list. This euro-thematic hybrid has plenty to offer gamers.
Master of the Galaxy by Ares Games
Master of the Galaxy is a unique 4X board game that uses bag-building, card-drafting and tech-tree development mechanisms. If you love classic si-fi movies and video games then this will feel right at home.
Everdell by Starling Games
Everdell has been our radar for months now. A beautiful looking game of dynamic tableau building and worker placement.
Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters: Creepy Cellar Expansion by Mattel
If you loved ghost fightin and treasure huntin in the original installment, then the Creepy Cellar expansion should add more of all of that. I have played the oringal GFTH over a hundred times with my kids. This is just what I needed!
Shadows: Amsterdam by Libellud Games
A fast paced deduction game, Shadows: Amsterdam has players investigating as detective teams to find the three required clues before the other teams. The case is up for grabs, who has the speed and wit to solve it first.

Ryan Laukat has developed a talent to create some of the most unique and visually stunning games around. I don’t expect anything different with Megaland.

Glorantha is a combat strategy game where players use unique faction to destroy the other factions and rule supreme. As if that wasn’t enough to draw you in, check out the minis!
Kick-Ass by CMON Games
You take the role of young masked vigilantes who are trying to clean up the streets of New York. Fight your way through the scum of the city. Kick Ass does plenty of its name sake with all the cool miniatures and unique abilities for each character.
Railroad Rivals by Forbidden Games
Your job in Railroad Rivals is to build the best railroad across America. You do this through a tile drafting and laying mechanism. Watch your railroad grow as well as your stock!
