Halifax, Canada – Vesuvius Media’s board game Nocturion funded today on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter raising $148,452 USD from 2,655 backers worldwide.
“This crowdfunding campaign exceeded all our expectations!” said Konstantinos Manos, Vesuvius Media CEO and Lead Game Designer. “We have an amazing community of players supporting us and together we create amazing games!”
Nocturion, designed by Giorgos Skourtis, is a dark fantasy, worker placement and resource management game for 2 to 4 players. Players assume the role of powerful noble houses that are vying for the respect of Emperor Alexius IV. To do this, they must fulfill quests, find legendary heirlooms, gather resources, and forge mighty armies of beasts with variable asymmetric powers. The noble house with the most victory points at the end proves its loyalty to the Emperor and wins the game. The game plays in 40 to 60 minutes.
Nocturion is extra special because it has lore that spans hundreds of years,” said Manos. “The world was originally created by Mark Alexander for our online strategy game, but the story is so rich and detailed that we’ve also started publishing graphic novels based in the same world and now a board game.”
The game art has also drawn attention. >Well-known for his work on the game Brass, Damien Mammoliti joined the Vesuvius Media team to produce the board game’s stunning artwork. From the box cover to the game board, the artwork is highly-detailed and beautifully crafted.
During the 19-day campaign, 20 stretch goals and two social goals unlocked, which added additional game cards and upgraded components to the standard and deluxe editions of the game respectively. The deluxe edition of Nocturion includes 23 metal tokens and 50 metal coins, along with pre-painted resin tokens, for a pledge of $60 USD.
“We offer our most sincere thanks to everyone who helped make this project happen,” said Manos. “We are a very small team, but we have big dreams and we’re making them happen together!”
Late pledges will be accepted for a limited time through the Vesuvius Media web shop.
